Top 10 Reasons You Should be Eating Muffins

Muffins and Coffee, great combo!

I’ve been into muffins lately. They’re fast to throw together and there are so many combinations. Quick breakfast, afternoon snack, dinner side, late night nibble…such a nice treat.

Muffins and Cupcakes are like kissing cousins (muffins are just denser and less sweet).

So, today I thought I’d bring you the TOP TEN reasons you should be eating muffins (in honor of Carol Kilgore!)

Top 10 Reason for Eating Muffins

10. Red Velvet: I just discovered this one and it’s pretty darn good

9. Apple Cinnamon: pie in muffin form!

8. Corn: honey butter anyone?

7. Baileys, Cream Cheese, and Chocolate: yeah, there’s one of those!

6. Cappuccino Muffins: coffee muffins, what? and filled with a mocha cream cheese

5. Blueberry Muffins: classic appeal with those tart little berries

4. Jalapeño Cheddar Cheese: spicy, cheesy, yummy

3. Peach Pecan: like summer in every bite

2. Chive and Cheddar: a classic combo and goes with everything

And the #1 reason to eat muffins:

1. Lemon Poppy Seed: my long-time, go to favorite, tart and tasty lemon with fun, happy poppy seeds

What would make your list? If you’re a muffin hater [or if your not], tell me what you like to see on an author’s homepage. Mine is a quite stark at the moment and I’d like to beef if up. What would interest you?

Side Note: Have full motion in my arm! It “acts” up when the humidity is high, so this summer will be fun (that’s sarcasm for those who didn’t get it).

  1. My mom had the best recipe in the world for blueberry muffins. Sadly, I've never been able to duplicate her efforts.

    1. Those moms and their secret recipes! I have a couple things from my folks I can't replicate either.

  2. Jalapeño Cheddar Cheese – I would eat that!

  3. I love muffins with crumb tops. It adds a little texture to them. I haven't made some in a while. I've been on an energy bites kick which is just oatmeal, peanut butter, flax seed, and honey mixed and rolled into balls. Easy and healthy snack.

    1. I like easy. Those sound pretty darn good too.

  4. WHAT? NO CHOCOLATE??!!!!! LOL… MUFFINS are delish and I try to stay away from them, but I can't. LOL…

    1. I know but the Red Velvet is chocolate-like. 🙂

  5. Hi Holly – I'm no muffin fan – but I'd do savoury … so glad the arm has full movement … and yes sadly we feel the weather after accidents like yours … it'll ease – take care and enjoy the summer – cheers Hilary

  6. Thanks so much for the surprise shout-out! A top-ten with two of my favorites: apple cinnamon and, of course, jalapeno cheddar.

Glad your arm and shoulder have healed 🙂 Sorry you're now your own weather guru 🙁

    1. You're welcome and thanks. But I like how you see the bright side–weather guru.

  7. I'm drooling now! My hubby would love the peach pecan. I'm a chocolate chip muffin fan. Double chocolate too! My son loves cinnamon streusel. I recently learned how to make those. Glad your arm is doing better. 🙂

    1. Thanks! Cinnamon streusel sounds good.

  8. I LOVE muffins because they're like dessert when sweet and rich or like a healthy bread when not so sweet and filled with whole grains and nuts. But I can too easily go overboard on them, which is why generally I avoid them unfortunately. Like you, the lemon poppy seed is one of my favorites!

  9. Lemon Poppy Seed is also my favourite.

    1. You just can't go wrong with a lemon poppy seed muffin. 😉

  10. I love anything lemony. Oh, muffins. I need a muffin…

  11. For me lemon & poppyseed muffins come in as second favorite, after the savory feta cheese and herb muffins! Yummy! 🙂
I've never seen jalapeño cheddar cheese or peach pecan muffins in our stores.

    1. Oo, feta and herb sounds good. I don't think I've seen those in store either. I make 'em.

  12. Hate to say this, but I'm not a muffin fan. I'm not a big cake fan either, so that might be why. If I eat a muffin, I'm starving within an hour, so I figure my body just isn't in the mood for the flour and sugar and gets rid it as soon as possible. But that's good for all the muffin eaters. There's more for them.

    1. I'm devastated – not muffin –not cake. LOL

  13. I've never been much for muffins, mostly for the sake of my waistline. I can imagine this all quickly getting out of hand.

"No, see, they're multifaceted. This morning I had a breakfast muffin, then later a lunch muffin, followed by an afternoon snack muffin, and then for dinner I had a muffin (with a side of cornbread muffins) and now I'm finishing my dessert muffin.

    …Why can't I lose any weight?"

    1. Oh yes, it's definitely an issue. 🙂

  14. I really do feel like a muffin now. Good reasons indeed, greetings!

  15. I became obsessed with muffins and smoothies when I was trying to figure out how to get good stuff into my kids. There's one recipe for double blueberry muffins that's super good. It has both fresh blueberries and blueberry pie filling in it, and the muffins are blue.

  16. Muffins are the best! My mom used to make blueberry muffins for my birthday, so they've long been a favorite. I also don't mind carrot cake muffins, with cream cheese icing, of course. 🙂

  17. I like choc-chip muffins the best, although I've never met a muffin I didn't like. 😀

  18. I might be an odd squirrel, but I don't particularly like sweet breads. No muffins, no pancakes, no cake. People just assume I'm dieting if I turn down the sweets at work or at parties, but the truth is, I don't like it.

Now cheesecake and M&M/nut-based cookies are different. I'll never turn down cheese cake. 🙂

  19. Now I totally want a cappuccino muffin. I've never had one before, but I might not make it through today unless I bake some. 🙂
