Well, It’s Time – ISO Critique Partner for Urban Fantasy

You used dis word twice.

You used dis word twice.

Yup, I decided it’s time to take the plunge.

Here’s my spiel-

I write Urban Fantasy for adults. I’m hoping to find two long term crit partners if things work out.

If you’d liked to check out my writing to see if you like my style, I have some flash fiction posted on my site here.

UF authors I like include Neil Gaiman, Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Karen Chance, Anne Rice, Kalayna Price, and HP Mallory. I could keep going. Really!

I’m looking for big picture stuff (and small picture stuff that stands out). I found a great list here of stuff to look for when critiquing.

It would be cool to find people in the same stage as I am ’cause it would just be awesome to try to publish about the same time.

Email me using my form here. To see if we are compatible I figure we could exchange book titles, loglines, blurbs (not that I have one yet), and a chapter.

My goal is to find partners in April and begin exchanging critiques in May.

I mentioned in my last post about Janice Hardy’s Critique Group Connection, but wanted to point it out again. It is a private group (you request an invite) to find crit partners (any genre). Maybe I’ll see you in there too!

For those of you that have crit partners, do you have any advice?

In other news. I’m taking April off from blogging. I need to get that WIP tip-top for critiquing. I’ve actually come to a big decision (at least for me ;)). I’m taking every fourth month off. Not from work sadly, but from blogging and other time stealers.

See you all in May! And maybe I’ll hear from a couple of ya.

  1. Hey, H.R.,
Hope you find a couple of awesome critique partners and that your time off is highly productive.

  2. I found my crit partners through my blog. I hope you find the same good luck. And I’m taking off in April too. Gotta write!

  3. That’s how I found my critique partners! If you need an extra shout-out for partners, let me know tomorrow and I’ll add it to my Friday post.
Hope you get a lot accomplished in April. We’ll just be in A to Z frenzy here…

    1. Thanks. I’ll let you know.

      1. I thought it was Friday already! Ha!

  4. I hope you find some good partners.

  5. Every writer needs some good critique partners. I found my partners through my writing group. Hope you find one soon! I’m still blogging this april, but opted out of the AZ so I could focus on rewriting. 🙂

  6. I am taking April off to finish editing my novel. It isn’t easy to find good CPs but when you are compatible it is so great. Mutual respect is the key.

  7. I found my crit partners through a yahoo group. We broke off and formed our own group then.

    Enjoy your time off too!

  8. I found my critique partners the same way Jennifer did. But we must have been in different groups! I also like what Denise says about compatibility and mutual respect.

  9. good luck in finding the partner, Holly 🙂

  10. Don’t think I can really help with this. Finals start soon. 🙁

  11. I love your system. Every forth month off is a great idea. Here’s to time and life and all that you can do with both.

  12. CPs are the best. They have been so helpful to me and my writing. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  13. I hope you enjoy your blogging break in April!

  14. Now wouldn’t that be nice to take every 4th month off from work ; )

    Good luck with everything
