This is my interpretation of the zodiac for the modern world and book lovers. My disclaimer is as follows: this is for entertainment purposes only, even though you will probably find it extremely accurate.

This is not what genre you write or read, but what your personalityΒ isΒ genre-wise. Think of it as what genre was popular when you were born as oppose to the constellation that was in the sky. Or if you were a book, this is the type of book you’d be.divider

  1. What a cool idea, love it. πŸ™‚

As an Aquarian, fantasy would be off for my genre. However, my sun sign (or ascendant??) is Virgo – and mystery is appropriate for me.

  2. This is such a brilliant idea! I'm a pisces and I write realistic fiction, but you know it's not really that far off because I was born five weeks prem! ;o)

  3. I write science fiction although by definition it's closer to fantasy – but fairy tales? Not a chance!

  4. Hm, Aries here, but by your chart, I'd say Realistic Fiction is a better fit for what I write. Fun post πŸ™‚

  5. pretty close for me. I'm an aquarius and though i do enjoy contemporary fantasy, i lean a bit more towards epic fantasy.
    This was awesome

  6. Whoa. That is completely freaky! I'm a Libra and my YA stories are all about family relationships, conflicts and secrets! No kidding.

Maybe I need to seek out agents who are also Libras and I'll find representation at last. πŸ™‚

  7. Fun! Except I'm a Scorpio and I don't write epic fantasy. I'm more mystery and romance with maybe a little comedy thrown in.

  8. This totally fun! Are we allowed to jump ship from one genre to another?

  9. HA! I'm comedy. I'll take that! Been told I'm a dry wit kind of gal so maybe it is accurate?
    Love it!

  10. HA! I'm a thriller on the cusp of being a spy! I can so dig that! teehee Very fun! I might have thought Taurus was literary fiction (savoring the beauty and a little indulgent), and a part of me wants to put chick-lit on Cancer, but mostly it looks pretty darned accurate!

  11. Now this is clever! & sorta accurate. I've written action adventure but didn't really like it. I just moved over a sign & changed to realistic fiction. That's always been my preference. But I also love comedy & a lot of Capricorns can have that dry wit.

  12. Man alive! This nailed me to a tee. Or is it T? Damn. Now I have to research it.

  13. It's amazing, but this hit the nail right on the head. I don't write epic fantasy, but “imaginative beings and places, and high stakes conflicts” fits me to a tee.

  14. There are princes in my story and talking animals…so funny. But it would be closer to parallel worlds than what my date of birth signifies. LOL
    Nancy
    N. R. Williams, fantasy author

  15. Too funny. According to this my genre is thriller. That's totally on the money. I am a thrill a minute. I have mad knitting skills, that lead me to all sorts of thrilling adventures.

  16. This is my genre personality, not what I write, right? So, you hit the nail on the head!
    Fun idea. πŸ™‚

  17. ok… misread it… so it's close πŸ˜€

  18. I would put myself in the Realistic Fiction category/genre. And that even a bit close to what I'm writing!

  19. It's on the mark for me! πŸ˜€

  20. Huh, usually these things are spot-on for me. Not so much in this case. Still very interesting. Thanks for sharing!

  21. Very cool… I love it!

I'm a Capricorn, and I think you got it fairly accurate!

    Happy New Year to you!

  22. This may be for entertainment, but it's accurate in my case. I'm June 22 – July 22 and I write romantic suspense. Lots a excitement and dramatic situation.

  23. This is SO INCREDIBLY accurate! I'm a fantasy/sci fi writer and reader, and my bday is in august! Wow, jaw hanging, seriously =)

  24. Family Drama?! Darn it, I wasn't far off Epic fantasy either. I blame my parents πŸ˜›

  25. That's a great idea! Is it possible I had many past lives because I see myself in several of these!

  26. Very accurate – how fun!

  27. such a cool post!
Mines December 15th, and your not far off, I do like the fairytales a lot, though horror/thrillers are my all time faves.

Really good idea for a post and love the comment feedback too, very clever you!

  28. I always thought I was a bit of a romantic πŸ˜›

  29. I love this! How cool!

  30. I think realistic fiction is pretty accurate, but I've always wanted to be a comedy instead.

  31. Aries…obstacles and off-the-beaten path is my MS – spot on! But they say the solar system moved since the zodiac was established, so now an Aries is really a Taurus. And Taurus fits me too…authentic people and places. Hmm…

  32. Nope. Mine says fairy tales, but of what's listed, I'd say realistic fiction is more my taste…and biographies…but autobiographies are sometimes fairy tales. πŸ™‚

  33. This is very interesting, except that I was born Feburary 29 and I fit better in the October 24-December 22 area lol. But I suppose as far as the personality goes…lets just say I prefer epic fantasy and fairytales to romance.

  34. Yes, I'll take the fairy tale.

As an Aries, I thought….hmmm. Then I read that 'off the beaten path' part & I would say that is definitely right on for me. Why stick to the tried when you can hit the road less traveled?
This is really awesome & tremendously inventive.
    Patti

  36. Hart, I forgot about cusps that could make it more fun. I always thought I had a Virgo rising- I mean a Mystery rising.

MC, don’t you just hate it when you have to research comments!

    Lisa, freaky or what?

    not even close…

This is amazing! I was born May 13th, which in your disclaimer is Realistic Fiction, which is what I write (memoir). I also do Family Drama.

    How very interesting!!

  39. I suspect for the one or two of you this I off for when you were born another book genre was making a play for top billing so you have a strong influence from this other genre.

Hi – being this month .. comedy – not sure that's me .. but stories and anecdotes .. and I try and not be sarcastic too often any more –

Interesting and fun post – thanks – Hilary

  41. Don't forget it's not what you read or write but what your personality is like.

  42. This wasn’t to figure out what genre you write, but what your personality genre is. I clarified in the post too.

  43. I had to check out the genre type… and it’s spot on!
When it comes to reading, the thriller IS my genre of choice and my writing ALWAYS has suspense/twists/turns…
    Amazing.

  44. Nailed half of me on this one. I am a YA edgy contemporary writer, BUT I also write Fantasy….
