I’ve officially started revising my novel. I’m excited. I’m nervous. I’m ready. Since I knew I had to rewrite the beginning, I haven’t bothered to read the first draft…yet. I’m certain the first quarter will make me cringe.
This time as I tippity tap across my keyboard, I’m finding that I’m not skimping over details, scenes, or dialog. I don’t feel that rush to get it out. It’s out and now I can write it like it should be written.
My goal is to finish this version in half the time. It’s just so hard to focus with all these gorgeous sunny days!

Good luck with the revision! I've never been much of a revisor in fiction, it's been a bit of a vice for me
Enjoy the process and may it be swift.
I love coming back to a manuscript for a revision and really finetuning the story. Best wishes and enjoy
Congrats on reaching this step in the process and good luck with y our revising!
I hope your revision goes smoothly. It is nice to come back, after you know the characters so well, and work to bring out their most interesting qualities and emotions.
I'm revising, too. I enjoy most of the process.
It's so awesome knowing you're working with the groundwork, because the hard part–laying it–is already done.
Thanks for visiting (and following!) my blog. It's nice to connect.
Good luck, happy revising! I'm just starting my first draft of my 2nd book, trying to get it all out and not worrying too much about the details. I'm looking forward to being in your shoes, going back and revising a finished first draft!
Good luck with the revisions…sounds like you have just the right attitude to get it done!
Hooray for the revision phase! I hope it goes swimmingly.
Those sunny days are calling & they're hard to ignore!
Good luck – enjoy the whole process – it's fun
Congratulations on getting to the revision stage! It doesn't work for me, but maybe you'll become so engrossed with the rewrite, you won't notice the sun.:)
I love how much better the story gets as I revise. Have fun!
Ooh, congratulations! And good luck revising
Just a suggestion : read the first chapter followed by reading the last. See if it has a “before” and “after” feel like those diet ads. That's what some agents and editors do, looking for that same effect. Roland
Focus, focus, FOCUS!!!
Thanks everyone.
Roland: that's good advice. I hadn't thought about that but it makes sense.
ED: I am trying, really.
I always find the beginings the toughest to write. And once I choose a way to start a novel, it's very hard for me to change it, even when I obviously need to. I guess I just get attached to them.
I think slow and steady will me more quality, and less revision, so find a pace and get 'er done.

Hi Southpaw .. enjoy the process – sounds like you are .. letting the mind remember the good parts and pulling it altogether.
It's difficult tearing yourself away when the words are flowing .. even if the days are sunny ..
Have fun and happy days .. Hilary
It IS hard to be inside (and working) when it's so gorgeous outside. At least my office has 3 windows in it so I can look out at the beauty of the days!
Good luck with your revisions!
I'm in the same boat and this time I'm trying to edit better so I don't have to do a lot of rewrites, but the weather has gotten better up here and it's hard to concentrate.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! Good luck!! I can't wait to get the that stage but of course, I hate revising. Sigh.
Great goal! And congrats on revising. Good luck!
